In no particular order, here are the Sci-Fi Movies we are looking forward to in 2018:

Pacific Rim Uprising

Guillermo del Toro his back with is iron monsters. This time around, he recruited John Boyega to take the lead in what is expected to be a franchise starter. Response to the movie seems a little dull, but lets see what will happen as its release date gets closer.

The Predator

The Predator franchise has not done very well in recent times, but with Shane Black at the helm of this one, we expect it to be one of the biggest movie for the year. If you remember, Black played a supporting role in the original Predator. The new film follows the same classic storyline of a group o soldiers going up against a killer alien. It stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen and Thomas Jane. It drops in September.

Replicas

Yaaayyy. Keanu Reeves is back. We sure didn’t get enough of him in the action thriller John Wick and we are excited he is back in a sci-fi movie.
Replicas revolve around a biologist who becomes an enemy of the state because of his dire need to revive his dead family. Definitely, this is a movie to watch out for. It was directed by Jeffey Nachmanoff and screenplay was written by Chad St. John. It drops August 24.

Mortal Engines

London was taken over and put on its wheels. Here, the team that wrote Lord of the Rings are back with a heavy adaptation of the popular book series.
The film was set in the apocalyptic era where the last remnants of humanity live in giant motorized city. Hester Shaw is starring while Peter Jackson is directing. Mortal Engines will be one of the biggest films for this year. You know when Peter Jackson helms a movie, it’s going to be badass. It drops December 14.

Captive State


Most sci-fi movies normally focus on preventing an alien invasion, but here, the aliens have already conquered and have successfully taken over Earth. Set in a Chicago neighborhood, it tells the story from both sides of the conflict. The concept is new and fresh, and has a nice cast. It stars Vera Farmiga and John Goodman. Rupert Wyatt is directing.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

A big fan of Star Wars, am delighted that a movie entirely based on Han Solo will soon be released.
The film revolves around a young Han Solo and his adventures with his buddy, Chewbacca, including their encounter with Lando Calrissian. It was directed by Phil Lord ,Christopher Miller and Ron Howard. The first two directors were fired and then came Ron Howard to finish the job. It stars Woody Harrelson, Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton and Paul Bettany. It drops May 25.

Ready Player One

Based on the Novel of the same name, Ready player one is sure looking to be one of the biggest sci-fi movies of all time. With Steven Spielberg directing, you know its going to be badass.
It stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T. J. Miller, Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance. It drops May 29.

Alita: Battle Angel

It is the story of a Cyborg heroine, Alita, who decides to go on a journey of self-discovery and thereby becoming the target of powerful adversaries. Produced by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez, it stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson. It drops in December.
